Does COPD Cause Or Worsen Itchy Scalp And Slin?

A MyCOPDTeam Member asked a question 💭

Since i have been diagnosed with COPD i find that every 2 months i will get eczema or itchy scalp and back for about a month. The patches that itch seem to be areas bearing more weight. Does anyone have this problem too?

I certainly have the itchy scalp @A MyCOPDTeam Member. I also have eczema, but haven't had a flare up of that for years. I do get spots anywhere on my body that will itch like crazy for a day or two and then disappear. I found some wonderful cream though that helps my skin itches, but can't quite afford the scalp therapy yet. It's called Dermeleve. I am not pushing that particular product and I don't even know if they ship overseas, but it might be worth a shot to try. My dermatologist told me to use the cream on my scalp, but I just can't force myself to put a cream in my hair--at least one that isn't MADE to be put in my hair. To answer your question though, I had the eczema way before I was diagnosed, but the itchy scalp (and I do not have a dry scalp or dandruff) I've only had a couple of years, so I guess it could be caused by COPD. I know that COPD does cause skin itching, so maybe mine is mostly coming out on my head. Hope that helps a little.
You have a wonderful day anyway @A MyCOPDTeam Member and I will too. Chris

My bet is on the COPD. Just give it time and the itch will appear on many parts of your body. I have a good cream I put on, but that itch goes away and it appears in another place another day. I'm glad it doesn't appear all at once all over @A MyCOPDTeam Member!

@A MyCOPDTeam Member these itchy spots that I think most of us are talking about would definitely not go away with just a washing. It's like having poison ivy all over your body, but different spots at different times. The Dermeleve I use is costly, but works and keeps me from going insane with the itch. My dermatologist told me that the more you scratch, the more it will itch, and the product I use works almost immediately, so I think I'm still sane. 😀 It's hypoallergenic and steroid free, but if your mixture works for you, then more power to you! I'm glad it works. Have a super day my friend! Chris

I think there are plenty of causes for dry, itchy scalp. COPD cause or not is like looking for a needle in a haystack.
