Are Mornings Or Waking Up From A Nap Difficult For Oxygen Levels? They Are For Me
If you don't use 02 at night, talk with your pulmonologist about using it for sleep. If you do use it, talk with your doc about the setting you use. Often you need more 02 at night because everyone breathes more shallowly at night than during the day.
Hi. I notice that waking up puts me behind the breathing eight-ball. It doesn't seem to matter what time I wake up. Lungs will feel tight. I hate pushing myself at all that early because if I put too much pep in my step it can lead to a quick drop in oxygen which in turn can define the way I respond all day to my triggers.
My lungs have to stretch back out from resting I am assuming. So in the morning, I will try to take a couple of hits of my neb and do a few breaths and slowly morph my lungs from "aw yes it's night" lungs to "wake up it's day" lungs.
Plus I can usually tell the weather outside from how my breathing feels when I wake up. I always know when it's rained or snowed because my breathing is challenged.
So long story short, which happens to me a lot, yes it is harder for me to breathe because my lungs can't recover quickly enough from the drop in oxygen due to circumstances created by COPD.
I have to remember I can't go 100 mph. It's been almost 5 years and the 59 years of living one way is hard to replace with new norms.
Good luck. S l o w l y🐢
