Carefully. See the above post. if you're really uncomfortable, use the microwave. To be told not to be within 10 feet of a gas stove is way over-reacting in my book. There's absolutely no reason not to cook with gas as long as you understand what you're doing and take reasonable precautions. If you don't think you know what those are or are concerned, use the microwave. Ask a spouse or family member to watch you and to point out things you may be doing that could be a problem. For those of us who have cooked all our lives, there are probably things we do in the kitchen that we might want to change to accomodate the 02, but we might not recognize them immediately.

In Europe they recommend NOT to cook on gas at all.
Even for boiling eggs or patatoes use a water cooker.
They are disconnecting houses fast in the Netherlands from gas,and no new connections will be made.
We also shut down last October the LNG production on land.
And for heating houses during the winter they use in some cities hot water from the industry.
But in the Netherlands it’s a lot easier than,for instance Germany,as we are very small,and all people live close together and no hills or mountains.
But they ‘ve been researching this for a long time now in the EU,the effects of gas cooking on your health,and last month they published the results.
They recommend induction ( as everbody has electricity.)
And they will stop selling gas cookers all together in the near future.
Same with public transport in the cities.
They will use only electric busses where possible.( not even hybrids anymore).
