I Would Like To Know More About Trans Tracheal Catheterization.

I know some of you have had this procedure done. I plan to bring it up at my next Pulmonologist appointment at the end of the month but I like to be prepared. He will give me the medical, You-all will give me the practical.

I have had no personal experience with the trans tracheal Catherization. I know several people who have had to have it done and to my knowledge the only dangers is bacterial infections. I know that it is imperative that you keep it clean and that you are on top of it more than once a day. I would inquire at your local better breathers club or perhaps local ALA chapter could provide you with more information. Sorry.

At my meeting today with my Pulmo, Dr. B, we discussed TTO. I am still very interested in this procedure, and he gave me the pros and cons of having it done, but also concluded with how easy it is to reverse it if it does not work out. When some personal priorities I have coming up are complete I will meet with his choice of surgeon to discuss the next step. I need the O2 Rx but the cannula around the face makes me crazy, and the dryness in the nasal passages, with frequent nosebleeds is also a problem, so I am leaning toward giving it a try. I understand Medicare will pay. Talk again after the conference with the surgeon.

I would inquire with a respiratory therapist at your hospital, I am sure they have treated a few with one and could be of more assistance on the pro's and con's of having one.

Oh, Trish I,m sorry that you have had no response. I asked a simple question about wheelchairs and heard from no one for weeks. Guess patience is necessary on the question line. Hopefully someone will fill you in soon. Hugs to you and good luck!
