If My Blood O2 Is Good Do You Think I Would Need O2 For A 20 Hour Flight?

im due to fly nust for an hour and my respiratory nurse has arranged for a flight assessment to be done so plz check your doctor can arrange it for you...good luck x

Check with your doc. The point is not how long the flight is, it's how well you do at altitude. Ask about a High Altitude Simulation Test. That will tell you how well you'll do at 8000 feet, which is about what planes are pressurized at for intercontinental flights. Many people aren't on O2 and do fine at sea level, but bottom out above 5000 feet. That's what you need to be concerned about.

Hi Racheal, I'm not sure what your O2 reading is .. however you need to discuss it with your doctor - Low air pressure during air travel also decreases the amount of oxygen in the air - and being a 20 hour trip.. Good luck :))

There is a test that can be done to see if you need O2 at higher elevations. Ask your doctor as Carol suggested. Perhaps your doctor can order the test for you.
