Maybe because Wisconsin is such flat land; There really are no places to build into the side of a berm. Many years ago my then husband and I built a house. The basement part of the house was only exposed on one side, but there isn't anywhere deep enough to build a whole house into the side of a hill like our basement was, and even at that we had to do a lot of digging. The city I live in (and grew up in) has never had a tornado directly touch down here, so we are extremely fortunate. We are surrounded (practically the whole city) is surrounded by what we call The Ledge, which is just some land that happens to be higher than the rest of the city. It is the opinion that that ledge is what is protecting us from getting the really fierce tornadoes that most cities in Wisconsin get. True or false, that is the belief @A MyCOPDTeam Member. Good evening @A MyCOPDTeam Member. The tornado never touched down in the city I live in, but surrounding areas got winds up to 95 miles an hour. We are very lucky compared to some cities and states. Iowa had a city just about obliterated and left 4 people dead. We had high winds and buckets of rain, but that's it. Have a nice night! Chris
