A MyCOPDTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hi....first time posting in here and first let me say this forum has been a wealth of information and great advice :) Im very thankful I found this forum and all of you.

My question comes from ending up in the hospital several times recently. A little background. I was diagnosed with emphysema two years ago....doctor initially put me on Symbicort and Spiriva......took the Symbicort only and gained a whole lot of weight really fast and eventually started breaking out in hives from it along with… read more

There is a generic for Spiriva but again you have to get it out of country sad isn't it that USA charges so much for drugs that you have to go out of country;

Just keep saying what you think because I think we know ourselves better than doctors if the doctor doesn’t understand and go to a second opinion that’s the way goes I guess it’s not easy have a good Breathing night

Sounds like you have the same type that I have; albuterol didn't work right for me either so they put me on Brovana and the trick is that you can't take them too close together or you feel like you are drowning; space the meds a little more and I'll bet it will work better. PS get rid of those smokes.

Stinky Mama, I think your practitioner is dead wrong about Spiriva. It's a LAMA, and you shouldn't be double dosing on that, in my opinion. It won't do anything to thin the mucous. For that, you really need something lime mucinex and drink a lot of water. That will help keep the mucous thin and easy to cough up.

As for you experiences with albuterol, is there any chance that you are much sicker than you think you are when you try the nebulizer? For it to work just the way it's supposed to for several days and then implode on you like that suggest that something is going on. I hope your pulmonologist can figure out what's going on. And you need a pulmonologist; I don't think your NP is as skilled in pulmonary as she thinks she is.
