Were You Wearing Corrective Lens' When You Were Diagnosed With COPD? Have You Noticed Your Vision Getting Poorly?
I was diagnosed in 2009. I wore glasses at the time, progressive bifocals to be exact. Everything was fine for years. Then over the these last couple 'er few years I've noticed everything is getting blurrier.
Has anyone else suffered vision problems?
Yes I also noticed my eyes getting worse just received new glasses way stronger then the pair I had
Because I was on inhaled steroids and oral steroids over a year +, I had cataracts! I wasn't even 60 yet. So I had cataract surgery with mono-implants. My distant eye sight is great & I use glasses to read. All is well. I stopped using all steroids for now. My COPD under control with minimum medication. Daliresp has been a life saver. No more flares for 2 years. I do a lot to keep from getting a cold, flu, or any respiratory infection. I am on oxygen 24/7 and use a surgical mask whenever I'm out in public. Not so much in the summer but always in the fall and winter into the spring. I try to stay away from crowds. All my friends and family know not to come around if they are sick. I feel healthy now. Just stay on my meds, excerise and I'm good to go.
Check with your doctors to see what meds may be causing your blurry eyes. I wish I had earlier. But hindsight is 20/20.
Get your eyes checked. That's the first thing to do. If new lenses aren't needed or don't fix the problem, discuss this with both your opthamologist and your pulmonologist; better yet, have them talk with each other about the inhalers you are on. Some of the inhalers can have side effects that affect vision. You and they will need to decide what's best to do. All our meds require tradeoffs; these may be ones you'll have to deal with.
I have noticed my eyes getting worse, over this last year , Blurry whilst trying to read, I have glasses but il need to go get another check up and see (pardon the pun lol) if i need other ones , I seen someone had mentioned it could be the medications we are on that are affecting the eyes, Keep warm and plenty fluids, I have been diagnosed since 2011, & 5 years down the line, It has been a roller coaster,. Take care Keep warm :)
