Swollen Feet.
I have swollen feet. Not equally so as the right is worse than the other. My heart has been checked I am not in heart failure so feel it is something to do with the copd as I cannot exercise as I could. Although any amount of exercise seems to help little.Does anyone else have this and how do you deal with it?
Have your night time oxygen levels checked. Your doctor can order it and if you are on oxygen, the oxygen company can bring you an oximeter with a memory chip or sometimes your doctor can arrange with the hospital respiratory department for you to pick up an oximeter with a memory chip at the hospital. It is not uncommon to need more oxygen while you are sleeping than when you are awake and having low oxygen levels at night, even just during your deep sleep cycles, can put a strain on your heart which causes it to not be able to pump as well and fluid will build up in your ankles.
Or it could just be a circulation issue and improved muscle tone from exercise can help a lot! Sometimes a pulmonary rehab program can help get you started!
ive tried a lot of that but that's why I only take one pill because you do get some from meds but not all of it
I read that the recommended daily dose of potassium is 1,355 mg and that's without taking a water pill!
I also read that some good food sources of potassium and their potassium content are as follows:
Avocados – half an avocado provides 548 mg of potassium, 16 % of the DV; (15% more than a medium banana!!) So mix up some guacamole!
Bananas – act as a natural antacid
Cantaloupe – half a cantaloupe contains 825 mg of potassium
Celery – the leaves contain the most potassium; 1 cup, raw or cooked, has 426 mg, 12 % of DV
Figs – 3 fresh figs contain 348 mg, 10 % of DV; 3 dried figs contain 399 mg, 11% of DV
Grape juice – 8 ounces provide 334 mg, 10% of DV
Melons – half a honeydew has about 1,355 mg, watermelon has about half as much
Milk – 1 cup skim has about 400 mg, 12% DV
Plantains – 1 cup, sliced, cooked plaintains contain 716 mg or 20% DV
Potatoes – 7 ounce baked potato with skin contains1,137 mg 1/3 of the DV
Prunes – 5 prunes contain 313 mg, 9 % DV
Raisins – ¼ cup raisins contains 272 mg, 8 % DV
Shellfish - varies
Tomatoes – one medium tomato contains 273 mg potassium, 8 % DV
did he also give you a water pill? if so take potassium pills you can get them in the store. bananas don't give you enough, I was just eating bananas and I got very ill come to find out it was lack of potassium. it put me into the hospital. the doctors said the water pill takes the potassium out of your body.
