Dear Jannette,I am addicted to cigarettes I too have tried everything from laser hypotism pills gum I can go on and on. My 2nd husband was a medical doctor that encourged me to stop over 30yrs ago with a program called SmokeEnders he even took me to a gross anatomy class to show me what smoking does to lungs ,at the time I always got broncitis.(he passed away 1987 at 47yrs old from cancer).20 yrs ago when I was 48 I had quad bypass emergency surgery due to smoking.I stopped for a couple of months. In 2003 I was diagnosed with lung cancer and had most of my upper right lobe remove only because the surgeon could not cut anymore due to scaring from heart surgery and I had to be resuscitated 3 times put me in a medically induced coma for 9 days in ICU and told my family because of my smoking it didn't look to good.I awoke with my feet turned in (posturing) tubes coming out of my side not knowing what happened got up fell on the floor and cracked my head opened(can't make this s---up :) ) it did take my mind off my surgery hurt like hell.I then had to get radiation for non hodgkins lymphoma which I was diagnosed with at the same time as lung ca.Of course because I was feeling good I began to smoke.2009 is when it all came crashing down was extermely short of breath went to pulmonary dr.started on O2 to use while sleeping started all the inhalers etc; but I still smoked if I had a dollar for every time I tried to stop I would be rich.
There is a saying in 12step program "1 is to many and a 1000 not enough" on 1/22/15 I stopped "again" I have slipped and had a few I will never give up trying.
I am on O2 24/7 my FEV is 20 percent down from 27.I have a wonderful husband and family.Stress is my enemy I suffer from all the things that others do with Emphysema anxiety, shortness of breath etc; So I am not alone. The reason I have told you all this is because I see you are only 50yrs old I am almost 18yrs older than you if I had a crystal ball and could see the future as I am showing you what will happen If you don't stop smoking I definitely will feel that the humiliation and embarrasment of posting this will be well worth it.
Best of luck and never never give up !

I had a really hard time for several years... Last year 2015 I prayed to the Lord a lot.. I quit the Wed. after Father's Day of June 2015. I tried during that the first part of the year, I used oil cigarettes, patches. other fake cigarettes. I really did not like them. So in June I really wanted to quit.. I did lots of praying, have been trying to go to church on a regular bases, I have joined some groups at my church. So I am still smoke free. So this month will be 9 months.. I am glad I finally quit.. Maybe it is too late but I am not going back... I would tell everybody to quit smoking.. You can trust in the Lord. Just do it...

I tried everything on the market. I had lung cancer and kept smoking. Talk about determined. I stopped many times and always went back. After I went on oxygen I still tried to smoke. When I finally made up my mind I started using the lozenges. You pop one of those and the nicotine in them along with your determination satisfies the craving. However, then you have to wean yourself off the lozenges. But I have been nicotine free for about 10 years now. I then started popping a mint in my mouth and I still carry them in my purse. I tell people they are my "cigarette."

Will power is not the answer, higher power,it's like drink if ur an alcoholic, but if u don't take the 1st drink u won't get drunk!!! Same goes for fags,if u don't take the 1st fag,u can't set up the compulsion to take the 2nd one,but am still smoking,as I won't apply it to my life ,good luck......l
