I don't know what it means, but pulmonary told me I was in stage 4 and if I don't quit smoking and use a c pap at night that I would die in 6 months. Well they gave me a trilogy machine and it's up to me to quit cigs. Not so hard to quit. So far it's been impossible to stay quit. I stay so depressed. This disease has control of what I can do now. And compared its horrible. As I don't watch TV nor Read... any advice?

I have been trying to stay quiet and I have been working on it daily but I have been told that smoking is the hardest habit to break. I'm not going to stop until I see victory because I don't think I can make it if I don't.

I quit cold turkey....the only way to quit....I took the last cig out of my pack and I broke it in two while saying "you will not control my life". Never picked up another one since and that was in 2010. I tried all the crutches...the gum, the patch etc etc.....they don't work you need to WANT to quit and then you will.....good luck on your jouney you can do it

Hypnotherapy helped the first time I ever tried it after 40+ years smoking and I smoked no cigarettes for a month, without any urge to - it was a miracle to me, but started back after traumatizing event

I agree with this. If you don't want to quit then you won't. Wouldn't it follow then that if you don't quit it's not because you can't but because you won't. It takes work for most people. I'm not sure there's a thing anybody else can say that will make a person quit.

Hi smoker,
Quit now or you will suffer later,I hope you don’t but I smoked and now i am doing not bad.Its because I practice Buteyko Breathing.I am drug free and I am painting our bed room ,all I am doing is breathing through my nose.
No drugs or Buteyko Breathing is guarantee to keep copd at bay .I have slowly it down but people out there on drugs until they reach stage 3 then 4 and on cylinders of oxygen.
Longer you leave copd as it is on drugs or something thing else worse it gets.
What I am trying to say to copd sufferers,in my opinion find a good Buteyko practitioner and do your research and give it go.
I am in control of my signs and symptoms when I get first signs of chest infection,I increase my breath hold and reduce my breathing, which increases my blood co2 and co2 is not just waste gas but it dilates your airway and increase uptake oxygen.
Lung transplant is not the answer either,no body is going to give anaesthetic to stage 3-4 copd sufferers and age.
If you got bad lungs you also have other bodily problems.
I wish I can do miracles but I am only a copd sufferer like you out there but drug free and Buteyko Breathing and all natural.
Improve your bodily function by good breathing.
Thats all I am going to say for now.
BFN!!!!!
