I Don't Think My Question Was Clear! I'm Wondering If Anyone Is Using A 3-in-one Inhaler, Ie, Bretri And Also Using Duoneb. Is It Safe?
My research tells me that one should never mix 2 different anticholinergics
I questioned my pulmo about this and she just shut me down and said that her patients haven't complained. Pharmacists say not to use 2 anticholinergics as well. I think I need to find a new doctor as this one doesn't like patients to ask questions. She said a few days ago that patients waste her time with questions. She sits with her face in her computer and tells us not to interrupt her because she will lose her… read more
Yes I do but I'm using Treleg y and Duoneb,, plus inhalor, works fine.
@AlicelRose If you do have Dr. Cheung, you will find that your first appt will be thorough and possibly some test will be ordered, which is good! Hopefully, it will work out for you. I'll stay with her until my next appt in April as I think it will be time for my PFT. I'd like to know where I stand before changing. Stay in touch.☺️
Hi Kathie. Been busy.
The short answer - YES. The LONG answer: Anticholinergics (ACH) CAN BE dangerous when used in excess. My concerns about this were pooh-hooed under the rug every Time IT was mentioned before. I did my OWN Research too and came to the final conclusion: ACH-class medicines are found in many treatments, including respiratory and incontinence for example. ACHs work on the Central Nervous system, in our case to tamp down the Coughing reflex. (while Albuterol RELAXES the muscles to increase the size of the Breathing pathway).
Here's the math: the amount of ACH in just two 2 nebulizer treatments equal a whole month from the powder inhaler! My pharmacist couldn't answer the question about the "Cumulative BUILDUP" of ACH in our system either - but Google could: https://www.healthline.com/health/anticholinerg...
So here is the REAL 🚫 danger. There are ACH meds in many OTC products as well which are NOT scrutinized. We CAN control how much we are exposed to THEM and their affects. But I'm not gonna skip a NEBBY treatment (or let my doc cancel the Rx for it) knowing it comes in handy on a BAD day.
NOW, IF I COULD JUST REMEMBER WHERE I LEFT MY PUFFER YESTERDAY!
be Well. . and WELL informed.
