What Not To Say To Someone With COPD?

- “Why are you just sitting around?” Um, I’m sitting around because I have to conserve my energy. I may be doing it because I’m having a bad COPD day. I may look fine, but I don’t feel fine. So, I need to rest.

Very well put I’m one of the few that have that gene it runs in the family. When I quit smoking all I hear from medical people it’s because you were smoking I say no it’s not smoking may have contributed but it certainly was not the cause it’s heritage bla bla honestly they should not as a routine say it’s smoking grr
I do love how you put it over it’s exactly how people and family in general continue to say to those of us with COPD

@Dominique02 this was n excellent article; you really should splash this on the front page of every single newspaper in the world and maybe 1 out of 100 people would actually read it. I am not being sarcastic there, I mean that most people (from MY experience anyway) just don't WANT TO know anything about us and how we suffer. An article like this would go a long way in showing people that we are still your sister or brother, etc. and we still need help regardless of how we got the disease. Good job!! I don't worry about what other people say about my life. But, I have found significant recovery from COPD using air purifiers with both HEPA and activated carbon plus a wick type humidifier. Do you have an air purifier and humidifier?

Hi @A MyCOPDTeam Member Johnson. I would tell him that there are 2 sides to every story. Are you prepared to hear mine or is yours the only one that matters.Apparently for him,it is.Sounds pretty selfish to me and no way to treat your own mother. hugs frank

Beautifully written and so very true! It's sometimes like trying to explain driving to someone who has never been in a car!
