Is There A Way To Not Doze Off While Eating, On The Computer Or Other Activities?
Its a serious problem for me. While eating I can drop my fork, food, etc. but at my computer, injury can - and did - happen. Some time ago I was at my computer, dozed off and my nose hit on a hard service. This "broke" the bone which separates the nostrils. Its now on an angle and periodically causes problems. When driving I focus on it strongly and am able to keep it from happening. Help, suggestions please!
@A MyCOPDTeam Member the exact same thing used to happen to me. I myself was never injured but I was still smoking at the time and put burn holes in some of my clothes. I would actually have dreams in those few seconds or minutes that I was asleep also; vivid enough that I would remember them. I had some lab work done and they found that my red blood count way waaaay low; put me on iron pills 3 times a day and I've been good ever since. I do know EXACTLY what you mean and have done the same thing. I could also drive, but had to seriously concentrate on what I was doing and where I was going. Have you had your red blood count checked lately? Maybe it's time if you haven't. Good luck!! Chris January 5, 2024
Good morning @A MyCOPDTeam Member. I don't think you understand what @A MyCOPDTeam Member and I are talking about when we say we fall asleep in front of the PC or do whatever. When we fall asleep doing whatever it is, we have NO warning that we are going to fall asleep; many times we don't even feel tired--it's something that just happens and there is nothing we can do about it at the time. As I said though, my problem was taken care of when my red blood count came up to a better level and I can only hope the same happens for @A MyCOPDTeam Member. I hope I have explained it a little better. Narrowdog has always fought through many obstacles and she is a wonderful person to know. Very wise.
I am sorry you are having such a hard time with your COPD. Unfortunately that is the nature of this disease and we will all get there eventually if something else doesn't take us first. I hope you have a great day today. Chris January 6, 2025

@A MyCOPDTeam Member...have you tried the supplement NAC (I get the Doctor's Best brand online at Swanson Health...sign up for their e-mail and get their specials sent to you in your e-mail box if you'd like!)...this is integral for breaking down and expelling that mucous for my hubby.... Let me know if you're interested in other supplements...do you ever get pneumonia? love and hugs -kairbear in green bay, wisconsin-
Sorry @Harborgurl, my mistake! Yes, you certainly can live many years with end stage; several people on here are at that stage and have been doing well. Keep up your good attitude! Hugs.
