My Doctor More Or Less Has Given Up On Me Like There’s No Solution. More Or Less Said Try And Enjoy Your Life.

I have COPD. Was hospitalized for 10 days about 3 weeks ago after getting RSV. I was told I’d need oxygen on discharge but after having the walking test I didn’t need it. I saw my doctor a week after being discharged for a check up. I told her I’m still getting breathless, feel quite weak etc. Plus have a cough now I’ve never had before. She said this is your new normal. Your lungs severely damaged and they aren’t getting any better. Just try and enjoy your life. I walked out feeling just… read more

Is there another doctor you can go to @A MyCOPDTeam Member? Exercise will keep that next stage from coming too fast, but there is no reason that doctor should have given up on you!! You can't go through life being afraid of catching this or that or you will get worse real fast I think. Don't let COPD run your liife, YOU run IT! Do what is necessary to keep that next stage from coming on too fast. Read some of the articles in the resource section; there's many good articles there. Get some rest and I do highly recommend getting a new doctor. Was this a pulmonologist that gave up on you or your regular doctor?

Agree! Your doom and gloom doc needs to be ditched. I suggest a round of Pulmonary Rehab and if that's not possible, start your own exercise program. You'll find that things will get much easier as you go on with your life.

I've had all the vaccines available: flu, RSV, COVID. Both my pulmonologist and my PCP encouraged me to get all of them. I've never done pulmonary rehab, though I encourage everyone to experience it; I do exercise at least 30 minutes at least 3 days a week and usually at least five. It's the movement and intensity that's important.

That’s an awful thing for any doctor to hear there’s nothing more I can do for you. I know the first time I saw a pulmonary doctor I was told the same and that’s bull I left the office in tears I’m stubborn and refused to listen at the time I wasn’t even using oxygen how could it be that bad I starting reading and saw exercises was very important. I going to pulmonary rehab now 2 times a week this is my fourth year going I get 30 visits per year and the rest of the time I continue at home so don’t give up find a new doctor stay positive and I also have talks with the Lord lots of prayers also it is best to start away from sick people most will understand good luck and keep smiling 😊
