YES….
I have had COPD since 2001 at first it did not affect my day to day life too much. It has over the years obviously got more serious and l like to think that l do well dealing with day to day life. I have now stage 3 COPD. 5 weeks ago l was informed I had early stage BRONCHIECTASIS. What should l expect will it have a significant affect sooner rather than later.
I suggest you go to https://www.copdfoundation.org/About-Us/Who-We-... There;s a wealth of information regarding bronchiectasis, what to expect and how to cope. I recommend the monthy virtual meetings where there is a discussion led by two patients with bronchiectasis.
I don't know that it was discussed at Gold, but I do know that Dr. Frank Scuirba has been testing some treatments that actually involve some modification of lung structure and has had some success. These are all in the testing stages and nothing has even been sent to the FDA yet. I hope that some of the things he's working on will be approved at some point.
Much of what was discussed were the effects of burn pits on veterans and the fact that the VA is beginning to understand how that impacts respiratory health. The issues of 02 accessibility in appropriate modes and equipment was discussed as well as the positive effects of Pulmonary Rehab and the importance of having an action plan.
@A MyCOPDTeam Member I think you went to the recent Gold conference in Philadelphia and wonder if there was anything on the horizon for the treatment of COPD?
