Mucus

A MyCOPDTeam Member asked a question πŸ’

I have had a build up of mucus it's been building up for a long time. I need to get rid of it! Pretty sure it's covering my lungs.
I've been taking mucinex for 2 weeks I can feel it at the top of my neck if that makes sense. I cough but nothing cones up. It's driving me crazy! I have wondered if I used a turkey baster if that would work. Just kidding. Anyway if anyone has any suggestions please let me know. 😊

Getting rid of mucus is something that many people treat as a daily routine. Taking mucinex is often part of it. Other techniques that are sometimes used include drinking lots of water to thin the mucus out and make it easier to cough up; PEP devices such as an acapella or an aerobika; the Huff cough technique; percussion and/or a percussion vest; and postural drainage.

You have to have mucas in you lungs for them to function properly, too much mucas can retrict your breathing capacity. Mucinex and other over the counter soloutions are ineffective long term, and may even be harmful. NAC 600mg will help you out more than you realize. I cannot stress enough vitamin C 1000 mg 2 times a day will actually rectify most flem and mucas problems. Those nasal cleaners have a good rep too, along with huf breathing. You might also want to try "advanced lung & bronchial support" from healthydirections.com. Please make sure you get the advanced not the ultimate as it is cheaper and higher efficacy.
