I have never had a lung biopsy, but I've been reading about them since your post, @A MyCOPDTeam Member, and I've learned that there are any number of ways to sedate you. Ask your doctor which method he will use, and tell him what you prefer. You should not have to deal with this heavy anxiety when he or the nurse can explain this to you. Good luck and many hugs.

I have had 2 biopsies first one was to take a sample of my tumor in my lung and the second was to draw fluid off between my lung and rib cage both were done thru the side back wall with local anesthetics because of the stage of my copd full anesthetics are not an option, the doctors that did the biopsies were great, they talked to me while they were doing, it keeped me calm. Try some rescue remedy before you have your helps to calm you and totally natural. Good luck with yours

I have had 3 with no issues. One before my lung transplant and 12 after.
Just don't sweat it, let the professionals do their job.
First i was dumb enough to watch next was Put Me Under lol.
I just thought either they kill me or i get better, I have continually got better since adopting this attitude.
You got this!

@A MyCOPDTeam Member, I googled one of the Lung Associations, and read this:

"Depending on the cause and the size of the leak, THE LUNG CAN OFTEN HEAL ITSELF, but in order to do so, the extra air in the pleura space needs to be removed to reduce the pressure so the lung can expand."

There are many sources of information if you would like to look them up. Also, they might not have taken COPD into account. I do know that it happened to my nephew after an accident. He made a full recovery, but he didn't have Copd.

I've had 2 biopsies, one just a needle biopsy, and one years later by a bronchoscopy .I am very lucky both were negative for cancer. Both were done with IV sedation.Have they told you how they will be doing yours. In both cases with me I don't remember anything once the IV sedation was started.
