I am so very sorry to hear about your melanoma @Paul809--or some of us remember you when you were pappabon. Cancer of any kind can be a depressing disease if you let it be. I lost my ability to talk 11 years ago due to throat cancer, but right from the beginning I made the decision that I wasn't going to let a little thing like not being able to talk bother me. So far I have done pretty well with that. Maybe your depression goes deeper or involves more things than your cancer? Talk to your doctor and let him/her know how you are feeling. If necessary they can maybe increase or change your medication. I sincerely hope you get some good results from the doctor this morning. Please let us know what you find out because we care about what happens to people.

I also have trouble sleeping. The dr. put me on trazodone also and I also take 1 melatone 10 mg but I am still only getting 4-5 hrs a night. I do not and cannot sleep during the day. Started back in Mar and I am depressed over having melanoma spot which have been removed from lungs and back and now latest catscan shows more and dr. is phoning me tomorrow, friday 23rd, with results and what happens now. I am depressed.

I have trouble sleeping myself. I've been bought on trazodone since 1994. It makes me sleepy but it doesn't keep me asleep. I'm up and down all night. I play games on the computer until I get sleepy again. I think I do have depression. I'm on Cymbalta to help with my neuropathy pain. It's another thing that interrupts my sleep. It seems like I sleep better during the day than I do at night.

Hmm @PaulaGeyser NONE of that sounds good to ME. Time to change doctors???? Just another "thinking out loud " thing. I'm sorry for you that you are having to go through all this sleeplessness and other things. Right now I am out of suggestions. I will have to keep my ears open in case I hear of something else that might help. I'm sorry too that your daughter can't be relied on to help you out. Many years ago I used to hear about a sleeping sickness but I have no idea what that was. I should google that sometime. I hope you enjoyed your 4:00 to 5:00 program today! I hope you have a great day in spite of everything.
