Is Any Having Problem Geting Predneson Scrips From Your Doctor I Only Take Them For 5days
Shortness 0f breath it keeps me out of hospital don't Dr know what else to give me I think at 80 I'm going to worry to much about my bones yust want to breath better I would love to hear about better medication
Just curious: why are you asking your doc for prednisone? Are you experiencing exacerbations or having significant problems breathing? Do you see a pulmonologist?
The reason I'm asking is that Prednisone is often the med of last resort because of the long-lasting side effects possible. Most docs are very reluctant to prescribe it unless they have to, and then only in bursts, Most will resist continuous prednisone unless there is absolutely no choice. It really does help you breathe, that's certain, but long term use is dangerous. Even bursts are thought to contribute to bone density loss, severe weight gain, fat storage, vision difficulties and other unpleasant and unwanted side effects. Because of these issues, patients don't often ask for it unless they feel they have no alternatives, and I'd suggest second opinions if you feel that's where you are.
My pulmonologist has provided me with an open script. I take 10 mg every day and it does seem to help.
Jean why do you say dac`s and patients are reluctant to take prednisone?
Aerosphere apparently is a mist delivered using what looks like a standard HFA inhaler. Unfortunately the link you provided doesn't describe the delivery system except to say "aerosphere". I finally googled "aerosphere delivery system" and actually got both a picture and a description. That does make it different and perhaps easier for some folks to take than a dry powder inhaler.
@peterdejong; not I don't know anything other than prednisone that has the result prednisone has. That's why docs and patients are reluctant to take it, but there is a point where it's prednisone or don't breathe. I wish I did know something that was better; I would be a very wealthy woman if I did!
@A MyCOPDTeam Member, great point. The press release about Breztri says "... combination therapies were administered in a pressurised metered-dose inhaler (pMDI) using Aerosphere delivery technology."
Like Bevespi by AZ, Aerosphere = pMDI dosing. Have a look here:
