Just Wondering If Anyone Has Done Long Haul Flights With Serve Copd? And If So How Did It Go Or Any Advice Would Be Fantastic Thanks
If you're planning to fly with severe COPD, you need to talk with your doc about what you'll need to do. If you use O2 now, you'll need to find a Portable Oxygen Concentrator that will meet your needs to use on the plane. Assume that you will need significantly more O2 in the air than you do on the ground. You'll have to make arrangements with the airline you intend to fly so they know you'll have O2 and will use it in flight. I fly all the time with O2 and it's not a problem, but you do have to be organized and know how things work. Talk with the disability desk for the airline you're going to fly to find out what their rules are. Take your oximeter with you and use it regularly. If you get a POC, be sure before you go that it will keep you oxygenated. The numbers DO NOT equate to liters per minute and the lighter ones are all pulse dose. The most continuous flow you can get is 3 LPM and those machines are big, heavy and require a cart. Check things out carefully.
Fingers crossed for you Vpkc
