I live in Florida and thus have central a/c going most of the time. I actually sleep nightly in my recliner ( past 7 years ) and I have a GermGuardian air purifier going 24/7 right beside the recliner. It definitely seems to help . If you get a unit(s) , whether tied into your a/c or furnace, or a free standing unit such as I have , it is essential that you get into a scheduled routine of maintainance and filter replacement. I use both an air purifier and a demister as we have a large amount of mist and rain. I think the demister is the best as the air up in the Tablelands is clear and cold. I have to light the fire in winter; it helps to dry things out.. Am in bed today with abscessed mouth, aching tooth...can't talk much and having trouble eating.
My immune system is very low.
