Does Albuterol , Pred Or Neb Treatments With Duo Raise Your BP ?
Hi Annz11 .
I normally have BP in the 132 - 133 range but the steroids and albuterol lately have been elevating it. It goes back down 10 - 15 minutes after a treatment is finished . If I am not on steroids I do not have a problem either .I am doing a neb treatment now .
I am so darn cold, it rained and snowed here in Las Vegas off and on for two days . Stopped now but I am still cold and have the heat up to 75 degrees . I just waant to curl up on the couch under an afghan and drink hot tea or chocolate.
Breathe easy and rest if needed.
Prednisone will affect blood pressure as well as sugar readings.
@A MyCOPDTeam Member Yes, never known it to be so hot some days, now we got the high winds, I often wonder if its the meds we take, or maybe the inhalers, who knows, but hey we just wear what we are comfortable in, thats my motto. How you doing anyway, and did things work out with the boyfriend, hey dont feel u have to answer that, I just hopeing for some happiness for you. Blessings. xx
Hi DArleneHobbsDavey,
We need steroids to breathe when we have a flareup or respiratory illness such as a bad cold, pneumonia or bronchitis .
.. Do you take an inhaled steroid that stays in your lungs such as Q-Var , Breo etc ? Perhaps Medrol will be easier on you
.
I do not get the shakes or rapid heart beat any longer but my BP elevates , I am hungry and irritable with steroids . Thankfully I only use them during a flare up
.
We will gain weight if on steroids long term. Some people gain if they only have them as a pred pack or even 5 + days and there is nothing we can do about that aside from asking your doctor for anything else that might help with fewer side effects .If there is please let us know .
Breathe easy and be kind to yourself .You may have gained weight but if you can breathe better that is all that matters.
It does not matter if you diet , you will not lose the weight with steroids so do not beat yourself up..
@A MyCOPDTeam Member, Yes, yes, to albuterol, prednisone. I won't ever take prednisone again, too shakey and turns me into a WITCH!!!! Besides, doctor tells me it's not good for me, as if I needed his vote on that one.
