Wei Institute....for COPD
Thinking about trying The protocol from the "Wei Institute". I can't seem to find any testimonials by any independent source. The testimonials on the site are very good but I would rather see or hear from anyone who's done the protocol.
Thanks in advance
There are no stem cell treatments for COPD that have been proven to work. The companies that offer them have lots of testimonials from people who would have you believe that they came to the center weighed down by their O2, on inhaler after inhaler, unable to do anything but cough and gasp, and after treatment, they threw their O2 away, tossed their meds and went skipping down the sidewalk. Ask the people fronting these organizations for any proof that their treatment works, such as, increase in FEV1, reduction in use of O2, reduced medications, improvement in 6 minute walk, or even improvement in quality of life as measured by any of the clinically approved measures (St. George, CAT, etc.) and they get very quiet. My friend, Dr. Robert Sandhaus, a world renowned pulmonologist at National Jewish in Denver, calls it "snake oil". There's a reason neither Medicare nor any insurance company will pay for the treatment. And there's a reason they're charging $3000 to $10,000 for treatment: they want your money.
That said, most of the clinicians and researchers in COPD I know believe that the cure will probably have something to do with stem cells, and there are remarkable things being done in regenerative medicine at a number of universities and research centers, so there is progress being made. There just aren't any treatments now that have had any success.
There are some legitimate clinical trials being held on stem cell research in COPD, but the legitimate ones don't ask you to pay them for the privilege of being a guinea pig. The research includes work in stem cells, Vitamin A and some promising nanotechnology studies. So check the offers out very carefully. If you are lucky enough to be somewhere you can participate in a legitimate study, do so by all means, but otherwise, save your money!
I would further refer you to this site: https://www.copdfoundation.org/Take-Action/COPD... This statement was written and endorsed by all the pulmonologists on the COPD Foundation's Medical and Scientific Advisory Committee, as committee on which I have the privilege to sit. These men and women are some of the most respected physicians in the field. I also suggest this by the American Thoracic Society: http://www.atsjournals.org/doi/10.1164/rccm.195...
Stems cells may indeed hold the key to a cure, but we're not there yet!
WEI Institute is another scam; that's why you can't find any testimonials or scientific evidence that what they do works. While there is some evidence that natural substances help some people with COPD, the "cures" the WEI Institute talks about aren't possible. There is no natural substance that can undo the damage already done to lungs. So if you have COPD, things can get better, but they can't be cured. Save your money. If you're interested in natural/herbal remedies, find a good doc who works with people who want to try alternatives. They certainly exist and a number of them actually have helped people find substances that work well for them.
I phoned a rep from wei,he sent me some info on the product, little skeptical too many different herbs for me.downloaded different website on chineese medicine for copd, some basic ones sound good will try some from a chineese shop in city, let you know.
Thanks all of you for valuable
guidance and saved by big scam, who say you will cure by stem cell
thanks for the info,i am always looking for new research, have a few ideas myself and asking questions on this site is key as to symptoms and different medications, since i am allergic to inhaled steroids and can only use prednesone and combivent and ventolin rather limited.
Does Anyone Have Any Experience/knowledge About The Wei Institute And Its Products?
Does Anyone Know If The Wei Institute Herbal Treatments Work. Has Anyone On The COPD Team Actually Tried The Treatment?
I Have Not Heard Many People Ask By The Weather Has Anything To Do With COPD. It Might Seem That Cold Windy Wet Weather Is Not Our Friend.
