This might be a dumb question..but what is Gerd?

Short answer is yes. G ERD and COPD are mutually aggravating in that when one gets going so does the other if it's present. See your pulmonologist and talk about your GI problems. You need medication or treatment to get the GERD under control and your problems with breathing and chronic bronchitis will get much better.
