Throat Mucus

A MyCOPDTeam Member asked a question 💭

Wondering if anyone else experiences mucus buildup in throat. And suggestions to bring it up and out. Have tried plain water, hot tea, cough drops and salt water. If this happens when you quit smoking, how long does it last? Quit 8 months ago,,,,,,,,,,,,I am miserable trying to bring it up and out

When I was just in hospital they gave md a hand held device called a pickle(green and shaped like a pickle) that when you blow into it, it sends vibrations down your lungs to help loosen mucus. It might be worth a try.

Hi,I had a similar problem and was looking for ways to clear it, i think it came down to what was in my lungs affected my throat, the more i got out the less there was, try some eucalyptus oil (a good old australian tree oil) in hot water and inhale the fumes,it will help to decongest and clear lungs,i've been 5 years off the smokes and went from clogged up badly, to fairly dry lungs and throat,it will take time,i noticed after about 2 years i was bring up less and less, because of the damage i'd done the lungs were'nt as good at expelling the fluid, some intake fluids i've read can increase fluid retention, sugary drinks from memory. try the oil, you'll never see a Koala with a crook throat, regards,Warren, have a good day...

I find hot water with lemon and ginger help loosen things up ... I inhale it then drink it while it's still warm. Good luck.
