My symptoms are cough, breathing issues, low grade fever from time to time, night sweats from time to time and recurring infections. I am just finishing a Z pack. Was on another antibiotic 3 weeks ago.

I have had it and was treated with very strong antibiotics for 6 months. It put me in bed for one week and took me awhile to start feeling sort of normal.

Hey Bill. Looks like you needed better doctors. Last spring I had a bad chest cold and my GP sent me for an xray. They found a spot on my upper right lob. He sent me to a lung doctor and he suggested a PET scan. The spot lit up on the scan. Now I am off to a lung surgeon who said we have 3 options, wait and take a scan every 3 months which he didn't advise as I was a long term smoker who quit in March of 2015. Second he said we could do surgery and see what is, and third we could do a CT needle biopsy which is what I elected to do. Well the biopsy came back inconclusive, just my luck. So I elected for surgery as my surgeon suspected I had a malignicy. He said he would have the spot biopsied while I was in surgery and what ever came back would tell him what he needed to do. Well when I woke up in recovery expecting to be told I had cancer a nurse came up to kissed my forehead and said " honey, you do not have cancer, it was a fungal infection". I got very emotional at that point. It turned out to be aspergilosis. The surgeon said he cleaned up my upper lobe as best could be. I still of course have COPD but am not on O2. Three inhalers.

At this point Bill I do have most of the symptoms of NTM. Both my GP and lung guy don't think so. I am going for a second opinion. Anyway just wanted to share this with you. Looks like we had similar paths.
