Using ORDINE Atm..(Morphine Hydrochloride) To Reduce Breathlessness. Does Anyone Else?

A MyCOPDTeam Member asked a question 💭

Using ORDINE atm..(Morphine Hydrochloride) to reduce breathlessness. Does anyone else use it, how, when and dose? Do you feel some relief when using it? I just wonder how beneficial it really is and how it’s long term use effects the lungs.

My doctor prescribes hydrocortisone, Effectively, the tablets are similar to prednisone without the side effects. I wake up and take them, give them a chance to begin to work, and take additional doses throughout the day. Use brezrti twice daily and abuterol l as rescue inhaler, Also have breathing treatments I take use as needed. Blessings to all, and easy breathing!!

I use it along with a 5mg pill. I use the liquid for a booster up to 3 times a day and take the pill 4 times a day. I also take it for pain. Before I do anything that going to cause a lot sob I take a ml of liquid and 2puffs of atrovent and it does make a difference compared to not taking the liqiod. The pills also help. At my stage of the game anything that helps is a god send. That liquid is.

Thank you so much for the information. Interestingly, my lung specialist is anti Atrovent. He thinks ORDINE should be enough with Simbicort & Spiriva plus CO2 24/7. M’y family doctor says I can use Atrovent. 4 to 6 times a day. This kind of conflict between medicos is not helpful. You’ve definitely helped my doubtful self. All the best and try to have a better day. Xx

I do not use morphine, but I have friends who have used it and it's been quite helpful. Basically, it reduces the "air hunger" many people feel and reduces the anxiety associated with shortness of breath. People tend to be much more comfortable, even though they are still short of breath and can enjoy reading, tv, listening to music comfortably. If your doc is recommending it, I suggest you take advantage of the offer.

My Dr prescribed it. In such low dosage taken every 6 hrs if needed helps to relax the muscles and make breathing a little easier. Taken under the tongue or sublingual as They say. I used it for about a year then stopped without issue. Prefer THC edibles which also helped appetite.
