Low Vitamin D
Has anyone had to take vitaminD because of meds they take.On Spriva and Symbicort. Taking 50,000 units 1 time a week for 90 days.
Wow! I just had blood work done recently and my vitamin D was depleted and Dr put me n 50,000 units a week for 12 weeks. I did not once consider it might be COPD related. I was in shock as I live in the desert and sun is always out. I use Symbicort and Spriva also. Seems .you are dammed if you do and dammed if you don't. I also contacted thrush, not a happy camper right now, plus weight gain
I take vitamin D 50.000 iu I have been on this for the last 15 years once a week
I take one vitamin that's a combination of D and C
I take vitamin D and calcium my Dr.adwise me
Me too re Vit D, @A MyCOPDTeam Member and @others...
I have very low D levels as well. Part of it is from chemo and radiation from my fight with lung cancer. The other is no doubt COPD (steroid) related. I also have the start pf osteoporosis in 1 area of spine and hip. Will probably be taking generic for Fosamax next.
The SUPER DOSE of vit D (once per week for 8 wks) is temporary and then goes to a maintenance dosage.
We need to eat better too; dark leafy green vegetables and like you said, the right @ exercise is important. A good walk in sunshine (it also provides some vit D!) solves some things too!
SuZz, fighting battle after battle.....and WINNING.
