I’m Very New To This. Are There Any Specific Vitamins Were Supposed To Be Taking For COPD?

I’m wondering if certain vitamins make it easier to get up mucus. Also I’d there a place to go for these questions. Health to all.

Gloria, you can look into devices that may help. I use a device called Accapella Flutter device. You breathe into it and it creates vibrations down into your lungs breaking up the mucus and making it easier to cough it out. Do a search on it and watch the video. You may want to ask your DR if this might help you. It's not that expensive.

Some vitamins are known to reduce inflammations in the body. Others are thought to increase immunity to disease and infection. Still other recent research says that taking supplements to increase vitamin levels may be mostly futile. We should get most of our vitamin requirements from healthy food choices any way.
Vitamin D is one that has been researched and shown to benefit Respiratory conditions. Most adults exhibit low levels of D in their blood labs, regardless of health status. Few doctors talk about vitamin D actually being a steroid (hormone). It helps regulate Calcium levels in the bones, which creates red blood cells to carry Oxygen. That may explain why it is of benefit for the lungs. Be well.

Many of us take vitamin D, but this is probably a good question for both your PCP and your pulmonologist, with answers based on your history, blood tests and other evidence. I suggest you go to www.copdfoundation.org and look through the resources listed on the Learn More tab. There's a tremendous amount of information there.

Mucus production and getting rid of it is a huge issue. You'll find many threads on this and many other forums regarding the issue, the various conditions that produce mucus and the methods, techniques and aids that people use. I encourage you to pursue them.
