What Is The Best Mask For The CPAP Machine?

A MyCOPDTeam Member asked a question 💭

I was diagnosed with COPD around 2010. In the last year I have reallly been getting worse. About 2 months ago I was told I had sleep apnea. Got the machine They gave me the one with a nose piece that covers your nose. I cannot use. Already not being able to breathe, I feel like it is smothering me. I go back Wednesday and I don't think they are gonna be happy. I am suppose to wear it for 4 hours a night.

I don't use a mask with my concentrator. I use the tube that has just two little things that go up into your nose and the tube goes behind your ears. I don't seem to have a problem using that. I feel the mask would be a problem for me also. The only problem I seem to have is the tubing. I sleep on my side and it leaves a mark across my face where the tubing crosses my face. It goes away after I am up a couple of hours but, I am going to fix that. I got me some very soft wrapping foam and I am going to wrap it around that tubing and see if perhaps that might stop it from leaving marks on my face. I will let you know if it works. Not a pretty sight to wake up with deep lines across your face. Heck I got enough wrinkles without deep lines caused by tubing. lolololol

I had to have the machine fixed to come on at the setting it was to run, I could not handle the ramp up setting for the same reason, when getting short of breath is an issue anything that reduces airflow can cause problems. I now use a face mask instead of one that just covers my nose, you need to try different styles and find one that works best.
