The only time i have ever used a Bi-Pap machine was when i was brought into hospital. Once a person gets their breathing under control the Bi-pap machine can also give you issues as well. For example; when a person is short of breath the Bi-pap machine can help you but when your breathing starts to get better and your taking deeper breaths the Bi-Pap machine will cut off the oxygen flow when you are still trying to take oxygen in. i found that when your breathing start getting better just take the mask off so you an take in deeper breaths.
You have to remember you do not wan to make your lungs lazy, they are designed to work for their oxygen not to just get it from either Bi-Pap, or oxygen concentrator. i know that it is tough without using this equipment, but sometime you have to otherwise you become so dependent on them that you can't live without them.

Your dr. 109876, can order a bi pap or c pap for you. I sm on a bipap machine as i am a co2 retainer stage 4 and 24/7, 365 oxygen user, i use the bipap to clean the co2 out but also i struggle to breath and it gives me rest while cleaning my lungs, i trust it while i sleep at night, mine is computerized and norco can control it from their office. I call and say i need an adjustment and its done right thru the office.
I use distilled water in the reservoir and dont overfill, i feel confident and i can sleep extremely well. It may take a few adjustments to get exactly the way you want and your comfort, but it is my rest, and Comforter, and confidence, i feel assured to rest, sleep, whatever...when its on and gives my lungs a break from struggling to breath. I wish you well if trying it. I love it

I use a bipap for the last 15 months, it keeps me alive. I have stage 4 copd and a sleep apnea where my lungs fill up with cow whenever I fall asleep. My machine has a water reservoir that I fill with distilled water every day. I go to respiratory therapy 2 times a week and have learned to do everything slowly. This way I can walk around every day without using oxygen. When working outside if my blood o2 drops below 90 percent I come inside and put my mask on until I'm up to 97 percent. If I'm out in a store and my o2 level drops I do the parsing breathing technic until my level is ok again. I do wear an oximeter at all times and slow whatever I'm doing until my blood o2 is at least 95. This technique works for me, other people I have talked to insist they cannot slow down, so they are on ever increasing amounts of oxygen 24 7. I guess what ever works for them is fine.

Ive been using the bipap for almost 3 years and i love it and i use it at night when i sleep, in the afternoon for a nap, and anytime i feel like im exerting to much energy to breath or when im feeling weak , it just allows me to relax and let it do its job and give me a break, it also helps with the anxiety from breathing, to just rest and let it do its job. In the morning i too feel the difficulty of catching my breath ,but i have a can of air next to me to get my oxygen up to parr within a few seconds. It is also there to swap over to in the middle of the night to walk to the bathroom, then put my bipap back on and o back to sleep. Allow it to be your friend, and it will give you rest and clean the carbon out . It is just amazing for me.

re dry mouth, try lemon drops. Biotene products never worked for me. Wondering why anyone would use a bi pap and not a c pap. bi pap is used to remove co2 retention pumping new oxygen in. When to use this is determined by an ABG - arterial blood gas value I am confused by these comments that state otherwise..
