What Are Lung Nodules? I Was Just Told My CT Scan Showed I Now Have Them In Both Lungs.
Lung nodules are spots in a CT scan. Many of us have them. Generally they are caused by a number of things; my doc thought mine were probably caused by some of the farm dust I was exposed to during my daily rural commute of 30 miles each way. Other possibilities are scarring from pneumonia or bronchitis, We tracked them and they either disappeared or didn't change, so no one got concerned about them.
Standard practice is to track them every three to six months and look for changes. If they get bigger then you consider doing something about them.
As to the lung nodules, you have been given good advice. Do not jump to any conclusions. Do the tests they schedule and see what comes of it. ( Please let me know if it does , in fact, look like it is going the cancer path, as I have been through that , and may be able to help you in that regard.) Specific to your Pulmonologist, I am in agreement that you need a new Pulmonologist now. Best Regards, judg69
I agree with Jean. I've had lung nodules for 4 yrs now. A doc visit after a CT scan is scheduled every 3-6 months to ensure they haven't grown or turned cancerous.
I've had the nodules appear in scans for years now. As others stated, they are checked on by scan every 6 months. Mine may have been caused by excessive smoking over the years, but so far they haven't grown.
I've had nodules twice they were discovered in x rays because of a COPD attack the Drs little concern and the nods were gone in about two months on both occations.
