I think you if your not satisfied with the answer your GP has given you, I would advise you to get a second opinion or go to the local A&E dept as it sounds like something wrong with your heart. If it's not at least you can find out what it may be. Thoughts go out to you. Paul.

@ Lisa.....Chest Tightness can be caused by an increased amount of mucus that is consolidated in the lungs.

It's also caused by narrowing or blockage of the airways that often occurs in people with COPD. Chest tightness can make it difficult to get air in or out of your lungs, making it more difficult to breathe.

It is also often associated with lung infections, such as chronic bronchitis or bronchiectasis. It can also be related to the narrowing of the airways that occurs in asthma......

The rib pain for me is because of hyperinflated lungs, rubbing up against diaphragm.....It is really inflammation of the Pleural area and it can also be any number of other Musculoskeletal pain, that affects the muscles, ligaments and tendons, and bones.

Treatment is optional, use your rescue inhaler, exercise. PLB or see your GP in case of Bacterial or Viral infection...
