I don't understand what you mean by "copd" depression?Do you mean becoming depressed after a diagnosis of copd?if so it isn't just attributed to you're copd, most people who are diagnosed with an illness that's life changing develop some depression to a degree? It really depends on the individual, and it's perfectly acceptable to get down or depressed after being told you're ill. However depression varies in the individual, just as a physical illness does.I hope you're getting the proper medication and enjoy the group here

I have suffered from depression since I was a teenager (back in the dark ages ) I have been on antidepressants since./ You need to talk to your respirologist/family doctor. Some medication can depress your breathing. You may have to try several to find a drug & strength that will work for you.

I think what is meant by "COPD depression" is depression brought on by the situation of finding yourself with a new diagnosis of a chronic disease. It' s very common for people who have chronic diseases to find themselves depressed. All the usual meds work for this type of depression as for any other type. What I'd recommend to go along with the meds is a good talk therapist who is knowledgeable about chronic illnesses and depression. You can learn some of the techniques and tricks of understanding your depression a lot better and figuring out how to cope with a chronic disease. I see a therapist at least once a month and it makes a huge difference in the way I view my life.
