Has Anyone Had Bariatric Surgery To Lose Weight While Having Copd?
I am having a problem losing weight. I know I would feel so much better if I did. I am seriously considering having the sleeve surgery to lose the weight. Don't know if possible or if my Dr. will agree. My concentrator is set to 3 liters. Has anyone out there has this or another bariatric surgery?
I have COPD I had gastric sleeve May 24,2016 lost 85 lbs and it has helped me lots I'm stage 3 feel lot better and more energy if you can get it GO for it!!!!
I've not had the surgery; I lost over 100 pounds in 18 months beginning in 2003. I used diet and exercise. That said, surgery is certainly possible. You will need to be sure your pulmo clears you for surgery and that the surgeon and most importantly, the anesthesiologist, know that you have COPD and are prepared for any eventuality. If they all agree that it's a good idea and are experienced in working with patients with COPD, you should be good to go.
l tried but doctors said with my levels being so low l was not a canadiate good luck
Also check all your meds
Lots of our meds
One of the side effects is weight gain
And if you are taking 3 or 4 meds
With the same side effects
That might be something you talk to your dr about
Good luck
Slow and steady we go
Never alone
Thank you Jean, seeing my doctors this week hoping they agree.
