SO.....i know most of the Pros n Cons about the ''Drug we love to hate'' ..so question here is if anyone else is on a regular regime....particularly those on 10mg or above....It is the only thing that works on my inflammation pain caused by mucous blockage of bronchial tubes.....2 of my recent hospitalisations have been caused by this and not infections. Huge doses of Pred via IV and then a 50mg extended taper fixed it, but now on 5mg and pain has returned....SO even though im on both Morphine… read more

I first started on them at least fifteen years ago for my asthma when up it was bad and they gave me a new lease of life but asthma turned into COPD, emphysema and other lung problems four years ago. When I have a flair up I take a high dosage of eight a day and it normally takes three weeks, no longer get a "new lease of life" but ithey help my breathing. I am now on a dailly low dosage which I don't think makes any difference. Unfortunate my Consultant at the hospital who I am seeing again next month does not like prescribing it because of side effects. I can understand that if I were younger, I am 72 and underweight and would prefer to take risks with side effects and be on a high dosage and be able to breath better.

Peter I have been on 10mg for a few years now and I can't complain about it. I do take more if I have problems but get off as soon as i can. In the hospital I take big doses of Levaquin and large doses of pred. Have not been in the hospital for a while yet , also very happy about that. God Bless Ya, Ray

@A MyCOPDTeam Member, I have predisone at home plus antibiots, my rescue meds, and I take both for a proximately 5 days, when breathing bad, but, don,t like them much at all, but, they do the job. Saves a trip to hospital, or GP at times, I just ring surgery say what I am doing, then usually GP, or nurse pops in, just to check me over. But, no have not been on them long term, short bursts thank goodness..
