How Often Do You Use Your Bipap Machine?

A MyCOPDTeam Member asked a question 💭
Ellenton, FL

Mal just got a trilogy 100 . It helps a great deal at night and allows him to sleep more soundly . He has used it during the day when he feels sob. He is on a full flow concentrator during the day. (Oxygen , 24/7). He is wondering if anyone else uses it during the day and how often. Thanks, Judy

The Bi-pap is designed to help blow off CO2 that builds up, often causing sob. People who have significant issues with CO2 build-up often use the bi-pap during the day. The Trilogy is one of the newest on the market and does a great job of helping people who are CO2 retainers. It is also designed to be used at times other than when sleeping. He's not alone!

I use mine every night, and if I'm having a rough spell. I had bad carbon build ups before I started using it now I feel much better. I was told you can't over use it so even when taking a nap the machine goes on. I now that without it I would have been back to the hospital a couple times. It's a self adjusting machine so if you need more you get more I Love it.

One more day on this side of the dirt is better than under it

Hi Judy. First I need to know if his machine is a bpap or a cpap. I use a cpap with a humidifier and run my oxygen through it at 2 liters. I use it every night and periodically during the day when I'm short of breath or my lungs feel dry. I find this to be a critical tool in my everyday living with copd. Hope all that helps.

@A MyCOPDTeam Member, thank you for responding. It has really helped Mal. Both at night and when he just needs a boost.
