@A MyCOPDTeam Member Having COPD require to do all what is possible to avoid triggers like pet dander, dust, mold and pollen and perfumes, hair sprays, scented candles, and air fresheners also can be harmful and can make your COPD worse (exacerbation/flare-up). Vacuum daily to reduce dust and dander (tiny flecks of skin shed by animals with fur or feathers). Get rid of clutter and dust furniture often. On days when the pollen count is high, usually spring and fall, limit the time you are outdoors.
Also regarding caching viruses and bacteria, COPD patients should get vaccination against flue, pneumonia, VRS, Covid. Wear a mask when going in crowded places (cinema, hospitals, supermakets,...), and wash his hands often.

Air purifier definitely helps. I have a cheaper £35 one in my bedroom on 24hrs. In the living room I have Eva she’s great and tells me when the air is good with her colours. In the UK about £100 but £10 back if you do a review.
All advice above great. Cleaning regularly is very important. I too have been wearing masks if I have to be near a sick person.

Well, let me add something "funny"... Are we becoming or forced to become as Howard Hughes 🤣--the billionaire aviator, motion-picture producer and business tycoon--spent most of his life trying to avoid germs. Toward the end of his life, he lay naked in bed in darkened hotel rooms in what he considered a germ-free zone. He wore tissue boxes on his feet to protect them. And he burned his clothing if someone near him became ill.

Roslyn,
Several decades ago, I had allergy tests and the shots. This was 25 years before my diagnosis of Bronciectasis. I tested positive for dust mites, as well as mold, grasses weeds, trees, many animals , birds, duck and goose feathers, and the list goes on. I could t continue with the mold shots as they made me too sick. I continued on with the other allergy shots. But during that three years the shots made me very fatique and feeling a little ill.
To your comment about catching viruses easily…I have been like that since childhood. After my lung disease diagnosis, they discovered that I have a mild Immune Defiency, IGM. And this is the reason I catch everything that goes around. For the past two years I haven’t caught any illnesses. This is because I’ve gotten very strict about masking washing hands, and most importantly not being around sick people. My daughter and her family had been very careful not to expose me. My husband works from home now ,and he follows the same protocols. It’s not an ideal way to live. But it has kept me out of the hospital, and from scaring my lungs further and making my breathing worse.
If you do your own cleaning, make sure you have a vacuum that has a HEPA filter. And always wear a mask to clean.
Air purifiers help, as Jael mentioned.
