Hi SHAR 101.Regarding your question about putting pulmonary rehab so far away.If these people actually had COPD themselves,i don't think it would be an issue. What say you? hugs frank

I like what you had to say @A MyCOPDTeam Member I do a lot of walking and what ever else i have to do. I go to pulmonary rehab twice a week for an hour each time but still i walk or do what ever when i am not there. I know that they usually have pulmonary rehab at most Hospital that's where i go its a program they have. I hope you all can find something or do what your Doctor tells you to do. Good luck have a good day.

@A MyCOPDTeam Member It's indeed a huge problem worldwide, they say there exist on-line video programs, but of course it's not the same thing. For others, kinesitherapist can come at home to train you to exercice safely. Others do exercice by themselves: walking, cycling,... As a matter of fact, I think that 30'/day of exercice will do the job (at 2.5 MET, like: vacuuming, putting things in order, washing dishes, light gardening, walking at home, climbing some stairs,...). After 60+ years old, with COPD, we can't force our body too much, but we must move absolutely. In groups session, it's more fun and good for the mood. Hugs

I never was in a group; they worked with us 1 on 1. And my rehab gym was out in what looked like a corn field. Nice though.
I think they put me in there too soon, and I was crying in frustration because they wouldn't let me do what I was capable of doing. 1.5 on the treadmill for someone in Stage 2! So after a few months I left and started going to a regular gym several days a week and doing lots of things, the rowing machine and elliptical being my favorites. I did well, but they built another place and it was depressing. Like a big dark warehouse. Then I just started working out at home. The only machine I had was a dinky little stationary bike.
I've always felt like you don't have to be in a special rehab to get good benefit from exercise. As someone told me, Do anything and everything you feel big enough to defend. 🀣

Hi Sharon. I don't want to sound crass but I think it's intentional (and not necessarily punishment). I once saw that a doctor had written a note on my medical chart in the ICU - - "Patient is Motivated". IT was then I realized the "Experts" could only do SO much and the RACE was up to me to WIN🏁.
Besides, its kinda the Way of the World these days. It is a Battle, indeed. YOU have to put in the Work to claim the Prize.
be Well.
