While COVID is a Respiratory condition, remember it is caused by a virus. Emphysema - observed on x-rays and CT scans as visible damage to the lung tissues - is usually caused by long-term exposure to pollutants and smoking. That's how I got mine any way.
So while multiple or severe infections from pneumonia (or COVID) could cause severe Lung damage - they are not the SAME. Neither can everything with four wheels be called a car. Hope the article helps more.
