Dr says more AB probably won't do much. Hard to cough up stuff but when she does it is thick green stuff. Anyone have any insights?

Drink lots of water to help thin the mucus, this will aid in clearing the lungs by coughing.

Hi Marion. The strategy sounds good and is pretty common. Mixed antibiotics are used to prevent a resistance against any one kind. IT's like a one-two punch in boxing.

Since most Respiratory infections are usually viral, the ABs are mostly for bacteria. But they all live in the sticky muck that is normally expelled from the body or dissolved. Here is where lots of extra Water (HYDRATION) comes in handy.
The ABs actually help dry up the phlegm too - SO more H2O is that important! Here is a coloring book guide for the next time this happens:

While on antibiotics you can catch other viruses. Be good for her to stay away from people for awhile if she can. When this has happened to me, my pulmonologist would give me a stronger antibiotic. Hope she feels well soonπŸ€—
