I'm Wondering Why People Who Struggling To Breathe Unable To Do Anything Don't Go On 02 Supplement.

A MyCOPDTeam Member asked a question šŸ’
Manteca, CA

I am on 24/7 now and it's a lot to manage even with a POC but I wouldn't be able to do anything or leave my house without it. At first I was devastated and
embarrassed to go out but I'm getting used to it, and people usually don't even notice I have it. The tanks are silent and the constant flow is better but I use an Inogen g5 and the only problem is at almost 8 pounds it is awkward for someone my size but the tanks are heavier and don't last as long. Many could get something from medicare thatā€¦ read more

@A MyCOPDTeam Member and @A MyCOPDTeam Member - I agree 100% with @A MyCOPDTeam Member. The POCs as 'light' as they are claimed to be, can be quite unwieldy - mine wants to slide right of my shoulder every few minutes, throwing me off balance, utilizing extra energy... Whether it's that , and/or if you have leg or hip arthritis, other 'conditions, whatever... so much really does utilize extra O2, create some anxiety and muscle tension which then makes it harder to breathe... and on and on. And we are mindfully trying to manage all of that, when we are at home, and especially when we go out.- Nothing to be declared 'wimpy' at all! In fact, when I think about all of that, we are pretty amazing!! šŸ˜Šā¤ļø I like that back pack idea. Will look into it!

Well I briefly looked at the article and admit I didn't take the time to really understand it. I follow the directions discussed with my pulmonary doctor and have been on constant flow O2 since 5/6/14 at home 24/7. I was ok with O2 regulators what gave me O2 when I breathed in, settings from 1 - 5 and a constant flow of 2-1/2. I'm now on constant flow 24/7. I have constant flow regulators on M-6 cylinders which lasts about 1/2 hour set on 3 and "E" cylinders which usually last an hour. Huge carts to carry them. I could go on but I think you get the idea. Whatever keeps me alive is wonderful! And periodically, laying down or partially, try to exhale hard to get rid of "stale" O2 and try to do abdominal inhales. Hope that makes sense - lol. Wishes for ez breathing for us all!!!! Narrowdog

@A MyCOPDTeam Member we have to have a prescription to get 02 supplements here, to use or buy any kind of POC or plug in home unit as well but Medicare covers most things.

You go right in and ask any question that crosses your mind, @A MyCOPDTeam Member.

In this case, I was looking for a reason to visit friends and family at home, and weā€™re having our 45th high school reunion.

When did I get so old?!!

Iā€™m maybe 16 on a good day, LOL.

Arriving a little early to make sure I have time to recharge my batteries, if necessary. Will meet @A MyCOPDTeam Member while in town, will stay with one of my paternal cousins (Irish branch). Will have lunch with 7 of my maternal cousins (Scotā€™s branch), and hang out with a bunch of friends who never left, as well as a bunch of other friends who are flying in for the reunion.

Should be a great time Saturday night, then one final meal on Sunday with anyone around, check out of the hotel for a final night with my paternal cousin who is hosting me for most of my stay, then up and out on Monday to return the car and catch my plane home.

I once flew home to play a game of Scrabble with my Aunt and Mom, staying a scant 36 hours from flying out on Friday night (arriving early Saturday morning), playing scrabble and catching up, then flying out on Sunday night after a wonderful weekend.

I refuse to miss a good time, and will do anything possible to show up when invited, LOL. I may only be visiting Mom and the other relatives at the cemetery, but you just have to know it will be an excellent visit with all my loved ones in my heart and on my mind. You have to make time for anything and everything you want to do before time runs out, and even though my budget is gasping for air, you know Iā€™m doing it.

One of my girlfriends will be playing ā€œBohemian Rhapsodyā€ dressed as Freddie Mercuryā€™s sister, Frederica, and I canā€™t miss that level of fun and nonsense !

Happy Monday to you.
