I used the patches, too, but quit after I got the first set of patches and they were more expansive that my cigarettes! I was so pissed, I just went cold turkey after the first batch. I started smoking in 1962 quit in 1992, so I've been quit for longer than I smoked.

Hi Mayzy, I too was a longer time smoker also. I started when I was about 15. I quit when I was hospitalized for double pneumonia. I was in the hospital 10 days. I asked for the patch and it helped take the edge off. I haven’t smoked since. It’s been 11years now. It really IS the hardest thing I’ve ever done.

Amen, I have quit so many times, I really really like it. I have been smoking since I was 12. Long story. Hypnotherapy was great, cost me 450.00. Ouch. I failed due to another long story but it was good, I had no cravings at all I mean at all. This therapy not for everyone but it does work. Keep going, he'll keep helping. I used to cry because stopping felt no longer like me. I'll keep trying.

I was smoking a pack an a half of a day . The pulmonary doctor scared me enough to want to quit stating I'm close of needing a lung transplant. That brought me to a hypnotist . I came out light up a cigarette . I was mad that it was unsuccessful. That week I listened youtube hypnotist videos to bed . I cut down that week . I had to bring my son to the hospital for 4 hours the longest I ever been without a cigarette . 6 months later I haven't smoked . For my cravings candy to suck on . I think chewing gum makes me want to smoke more and last one that may not work for everyone was smoking an un lite cigarette . That tricked my mind to thinking I was smoking. 6 months later I still have strong cravings but I'm not reaching for an un lite cigarette.
It's sooo hard but possible . I enjoy smoking and get depressed that I can't but I'm doing it by the grace of God .

There is a lozenge called Habitrol it provides the nicotine without the smokes. Available in 2mg and 1mg start off on 2mg and go with those 4 six months, then cut diwn to the 1mg lozenge, they are available in mint and from memory there is a fruit one as well.
