Look under the word "Resources" at the top of the page @A MyCOPDTeam Member, there's tons of articles in that section.

One thing that helps me with phlegm is to take 100 mg of Novusetin (Fisetin by Swanson or Doctors Best brand) after each meal. I still have to sometimes cough up a few globs of phlegm and that can be stressful. Up until the other day I had a system that helped, but so far it is no longer available . I used to take a small amount of Scope mouthwash, hold it in my mouth and breath the vapors into my lungs, then spit it out. (Maybe do it 2 or 3 times). It broke up the phlegm deep down in my lungs and I could cough it up a lot more easily. However---- Scope was apparently force by the government to cut the 70% alcohol down to about 13%, and it doesn't work any more. I am going to try some vodka the next time -- but I don't drink alcohol, so it will be an experiment to not swallow it--- just breath easily for a few minutes. Let us know if you come up with some innovative idea that works. Read the internet about fisetin and all the things it can do for us - its a flavonoid with anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant properties that even helps with some cancers. Most doctors don't know about it because it has not been through a lot of trials, but Mayo Clinic and Salk Institute have been testing it.

@A MyCOPDTeam Member why vodka? If you just want the vapors I would think something like peppermint schnapps or something like that would give off a better vapor--more helpful. I hope something works for you. I am the one who mentioned the pineapple juice and someone else mentioned it to me. I'm happy to see that it has helped @A MyCOPDTeam Member, so maybe it would work for you. Have a great Sunday! Chris

@A MyCOPDTeam Member - a late response. There was a different question, which I don't remember, in which someone shared that pineapple juice really helped with coughing. I tried it and now it's part of my day. I've been buying 6 pack cans of Dole Pineapple juice and it has made a tremendous difference for me. One can or two if you want. Good luck!!

Good question. I really couldn't find any "ARTICLES" on Coughing. If you Search on the top menu bar (using the icon next to your picture) you will find many posts from User offering tips and suggestions on how to deal with it. The worst Coughing episodes often fall into the Shortness of Breath (SOB) category. That usually involves a meetup with your Doc. ASAP.

Here's my 2ยข on dealing with excess Mucus (the primary cause of MY seldom coughing ) -- STAY Hydrated! DRINK more fluids!

ps. A small dab of Vicks salve under the nose may help a bit too. (Says so right on the jar). Nasal sprays may help if congestion is a part of things too.
