I have been on Trelogy for about 3 years now. I find that it works ok. I have had no side affects and my breathing is as good as it going to get, I believe.

There are three major "classes" of meds for COPD. There are long acting beta agonists (LABA), long acting muscarinic agents (LAMA) and inhaled corticosteroids (ICS). LAMAs and LABAs are both broncodilators; they simply target different areas in the lungs. ICS are inhaled steroids. There are combinations like Advair and Symbicort that are both a combination of a LABA and an ICS, but each pharma company has to use their individual chemicals to create combinations. Trelegy is a combination that includes a LABA, a LAMA and and ICS and belong to Glaxo Smith Kline. Breztri is another three in one combination and belongs to Astra Zeneca.

One of the things that makes this more complicated is that each of the major pharma companies develop their own LAMAs, LABAs and ICSs, and because they have the rights to those chemicals no one else can use them. So company A can mix and match their own combinations internally, but not with company B's or C's.

We know that not everyone responds to the various individual meds or combinations in the same way, so you could find that A's LAMA, B's LABA and C's ICS work for you and you could take three different inhalers, but you could never put them together.

I've been on Trelegy for approximately 12 months and have found it eases my coughing fairly quickly and gets my breathing back to a more normal pace.
