Hi Everyone. Do You Find Stress Or Anxiety, Effects Your COPD More Then Anything Else?
Both depression and anxiety are very common in people who have chronic illnesses, and COPD is certainly one where both can play a large part. After all, what's more frightening than not being able to breathe? It's no wonder we're anxious! For some of us, it's not much different than the effect of humidity, the dew point, air pressure or exertion and we're the lucky ones, because we can have really good days. Unfortunately, anxiety and depression can ruin an otherwise perfect day and sometimes does. It's very possible to learn to manage and control the anxiety and even the depression through good therapy and medication. Don't be afraid to ask for help!!
No I would not say more then the weather, air quality, humidity, air pressure, or exertion. But it is a part of it that comes up from time to time. That also makes your lungs tighten up and hard to breath. My pulmonologist sent me to my GP to get anxiety medicine to help me when I have this panic attacks. Something you need to discuss with your Dr's and see if they can help you.
