Is Feeling So Ill Every Time I Have A Cold And Weeks Of Shortness Of Breath After Caused By My COPD?
@A MyCOPDTeam Member hi 🙂 I'm from the uk and we do have pulmonologist and you will have one near you too. Fat chance of getting referred by the doctor but you can go private if you have funds, and you can contact them yourself
Talk with your pulmonologist to see if what you're experiencing is considered normal for someone at your stage of the disease.
Sorry it has taken me this long to respond back to you. I am learning the site slowly but surely. Frequent coughing or wheezing, excess mucus and shortness of breath are hallmark symptoms of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease . COPD can be early, moderate, severe, or very severe depending on your symptoms, the number of exacerbations you’ve had, and your lung function. In early COPD, a person may have chronic cough and phlegm but may not be aware they have reduced lung function; they sometimes dismiss their symptoms as a normal part of aging.
Symptoms are impossible to ignore in severe COPD. A person with severe COPD can get short of breath even while walking slowly or getting out of a chair. I would say you need to visit your primary care doctor and maybe discuss seeing a lung doctor so some test can be done to figure out what's going on with you. Hope this helped?
Thank you Lisa
Sorry I'm in UK and don't have such a thing. Just a yearly questionnaire review but thank you anyway.
