1. Is lung function the same as spirometry lung %
2. Does the stage correlate to Bronchitis or Emphysema

A) health
B) wellness
C) ability.

We patients usually use the FEV1 result as "lung function"; docs often use additional PFT or spirometry results.
COPD is an umbrella term that includes both emphysema and chronic bronchtis; most of us have elements of both.
With no spirometry I would use how well I can perform various activities, such as how long it takes to walk around the block. If things get worse, you would slow down and that could be your measure of when to seek medical assistance.
The GOLD staging is designed to help docs decide what treatments are appropriate for patients.
If your FEV1 is 33%, by the Gold standard that would probably put you in the moderate to severe stage of the disease, depending on the number of exacerbations you have in a year.
Having read about the COPD stages on line, I asked the doctor.
Neither do I , I know in the UK we don’t use the term staged
