How To Travel Being On Oxygen For A Two Night Stay At Kings Island...can I Rent A Concentrator For My Room.

A MyCOPDTeam Member asked a question ๐Ÿ’ญ

Has anyone traveled overnight and stayed in a hotel while on oxygen for two nights or more. If so, what did you do, because I know that my G5 Onogen machine can't run the whole time day and night nonstop.

I travel a lot. You should have a Durable Medical Equipment (DME) provider for your 02 needs. Even though you have a POC, I assume you also have a stationary concentrator through your DME. Medicare requires that your DME provide you with equipment that you need even when you're not home. They do usually require a two week notice so they can make arrangements to have what you need delivered to your destination. Lincare is my provider and they are nation-wide; the only places they don't serve are a couple of odd places in New York City, Hawaii and Alaska. When I travel I give them the name of the Hotel where I'll be staying and they deliver so it's there when I arrive.

Its probably not ideal, but I have successfully used my portable on a weekend trip when I was on Oxygen 24/7. I kept it plugged into the wall near the bed overnight and alternated between using the battery when out and plugged it into the wall when needed. It worked out good for me as I was staying at a lake house with some of my friends and I was able to alternate between the battery and plugging in to the wall. . I traveled with my wall cord and plug, my car cord and plug and two batteries. The pulse at level 2 worked for me. I was worried about it before I went but they convinced me to go and it all worked out great. I took extra cannulas and changed to a longer tube/cannula for more flexibility when in bed.

Those are pretty high settings, and it's true your pulse dose might not be enough for you at night. The Inogen g5 is supposed to be able to run 24/7. Learned most of this from Jean, so I guess that's your best input. I am with Apria here in CA and our local is awful but probably better in other areas. I hope something works out for you and you get to go on your trip ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

@A MyCOPDTeam Member๐Ÿ™‡โ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ™Œ Your oxygen provider for your home concentrator can have one sent to the hotel so itโ€™s there when you arrive. At least thatโ€™s what mine offered to do. I use Lincare and they are fantastic for me.
God Bless you and Breathe Easy

You are so welcome and you know Inogen has a 24hr number you can call if you are having a problem with your unit and also a tech department and you can ask lots of questions. We all keep hoping for a constant flow unit with great battery life but it just hasn't happened yet. I hope you find a way to go and don't have to miss your trip, safely of course. ๐Ÿ˜ƒ If you want I can add you to my team and @A MyCOPDTeam Member knows a lot about the different units.
